CellTherX’s patented and proven microsurfacing processes create additional surface area in tissue grafts, and thereby increases the number of sites available for physical cell-to-cell interactions.
The cell-to-cell interactions between the host and the regenerative tissue graft are critical to the biological processes of wound healing; specifically:
1) Hemostasis
2) Inflammation
3) Proliferation
4) Remodeling
The increased surface area results in greater blood absorption, enhanced angiogenesis formation, increased adhesion and seal between the host and graft, increased cellular interaction across the fibrous foundation of the wound bed resulting in faster incorporation of the resurfaced graft.
The faster healing and earlier incorporation of microsurfaced ADM is attributed to its more rapid saturation with blood, and has been shown to provide not only a matrix scaffold (coagulum) but also early endocrine signals for healing.
Histologic Evaluation of Wound-Bed Preparedness Following Microsurfaced Skin Grafts for the Treatment of Deep Burn Wounds: Results from a Randomized Controlled Trial Ref. Marinelli et al 2024; also observed findings of a predominant cell type of neutrophils occurring more frequently in the micro-surfaced grafts may elucidate histologic changes that occur with healing following skin grafting. Neutrophils are known to play important roles in the early phases of wound-healing, both in promotion of angiogenesis and in their bactericidal function.
